All About Agile | Agile Development Made Easy!

Greetings everyone,
Which software do you use to manage Agile Scrum projects that aren’t application development? Can you include what you like and don’t like about the product you use? We use VSTS 2007 for our code development but I’d like to use something that isn’t tied to Visual Studio.

Thanks,

Doug

Agreed. Nothing beats having the entire team in the same room. We find that having both physical tools (task board and burn down charts on white boards in the office) as well as online tools (Pivotal Tracker, Basecamp etc) to be a great combination.

One tool that I have been keeping my eye on is www.agilezen.com which is a pretty good online task board for simple to medium sized projects.
We are using Rally (www.rallydev.com). Pretty happy with it in general.
I agree this type of tool is important for distributed teams (many of those in our company).

I haven't spent time reviewing other tools, and I know there are tools popping up like mushroom after the rain. Some of them are free (e.g. www.pivotaltracker.com) so I would check those out first.
twiki, created our own release/project pages..
openoffice spreadsheet for burnups
targetprocess v nice tool just a shame its hosted on M$

have tried numerous others, mingle, rally, version one etc all very good

The key though is to keep it simple, colocate if possible and get lots of whiteboards preferably ones that allow magnets to be used, helps keep post-it notes on the wall, do yiour daily standups, demos and iterate..
Hi Doug,

We created Scrum'd to have a standalone Agile tool that worked the way we do. As many have said though, it depends on the needs of your team and what will work for them. If you have any questions about Scrum'd I'm happy to answer them. Good luck with your search.

Hi,

We use Scrumworks. We have 2 teams which are locally based and 3 teams in India. We find that Scrumworks is a real-time Scrum / Agile tool which has served our needs for over a year.

See http://www.danube.com/

BTW, the web reports are also realtime, allowing the link creation once (which we publish to our WIKI) where management can look at the backlog and sprints anytime.
For small sized projects try http://miniscrum.com. It is one of the simplest tools to start with.
I'm a contractor at the SEC and we have been using PivotalTracker as part of an initial Scrum Pilot. Because of the Federal Environment I have to say that we will be migrating away from it to IceScrum2.
We too use PivotalTracker and of all the tools we have tried this is by far the best as it is simple to use and reflects the task wall so well.

The focus on feature delivery and the simple impact of bugs/chores which negate against your velocity really helped me in realising that delivery of features is our key measure of progress everything else simply slows down our ability to improve our products..
Hi There,

Bright Green Projects has been around for a few years now and we have many customers spread throughout the world.

Bright Green is a simple agile project tool, based on Scrum and inspired by Lean Kanban, the Japanese principles Lean Kanban from Just In Time Production. We believe in giving people the the freedom that comes with a well-organised, transparent project.

It's free for teams of 3 or less.

Have a look to pm-software.org. This site has several management software reviews.

I can call myself a veteran in trying out new open source pm and though I found some that compete against the likes of MS project and basecamp, this one really took me by surprise. Just check it out -- http://2-plan.com …and with animated graphics it is loads of fun too
