Anyone have any recommended Agile project planning software?

We tried a few of the open source ones, but they're cumbersome, not user friendly, and difficult to use.

VersionOne seems interesting (http://www.versionone.com/)

Depends on what you're looking for. If words like "enterprise" and "suite" come to mind, Rally (http://www.rallydev.com/) and VersionOne are a couple to look at.

If you're looking for simple and easy to use, one option is Planigle (http://www.planigle.com). It is an open source agile project management tool that also has a hosted version. Disclaimer: I'm associated with the project, so I might be a bit biased. :)

Mike Cohn has a nice site which lists / categorizes a lot of the available tools: http://www.userstories.com/products.
Thanks, I'll check those out. Doesn't have to be enterprisey - just easy to use.
What are your requirements for the software? Who is going to use it, and for what? Are you colocated or distributed?
- Web based
- Ability to track user stories/tasks
- Associates stories/tasks to Sprints
- Track time/Burn down time during a Sprint.

The biggest challenge we've had with the tools we've tried is moving a user story from one sprint to another (e.g. say it doesn't get done and you want to move a story to another sprint)... We're finding MSFT Excel is fastest/easiest tool to use so far (we found a Sprint planning template).
What is keeping you from using a task board with index cards, and a flipchart?
Try Agile-Team.
It is an integrated project management tool that combines project planning, resource management, time reporting, defect tracking, and customer support.
Agile-Team is a single tool that might be used by all team members representing different roles in organization.
Note that Agile-Team makes customers a part of development process.

Agile-Team might be used for both SCRUM and classical projects.
If you are interested in handling SCRUM projects, see Agile-Team™ and SCRUM
The Agile-Team™ for a SCRUM Project" video is also available directly at this site.
Thanks Elizabeth! We're pretty far along in our evaluation of tools at this point.

We've been evaluating VersionOne, AxoSoft, and GreenHopper. We took a brief look at Rally as well.
You might also want to check TinyPM for simplicity with perfect management and TargetProcess for enterprise level needs. Loved both of them.

all tools do the same - GreenHopper has been enough so far.

"all tools do the same" well i must say if the team does not have any requirements and just wanted basic functions then yes may be....

But if you are trying to use a tool at an enterprise level i guess there will be specific expectations that a tool has to meet in terms of agile portfolio/programme management, integrations, accessability from different platforms and if i list, many of them. I seriously doubt if you can generalize and say any tool would do. This approach may end up in the same issue that i usually come across, there is a tool for the heck of having it and is merely used as a repository to enter user stories.....:)

In April 2011,Gartner, Inc. that positions itself as the world's most trusted source of independent IT research and advice, has included Agile-Team Aps and its product Agile-Team in its “Cool Vendors in Application Development, 2011” report as one of four tools that deliver next-generation capabilities in the application development cycle. You are welcome to try it for free at the Agile-Team site.
I have tried many tools and by far the best I have used and adopted is pivotaltracker, this was recommended to me at the ACCU2010 conference in Oxford, UK this year by Jeff Sutherland. Simple to use and probably the closest thing to the sprint wall/task board... that you can get. Oh and it handles moving stories into your sprints automatically based on your velocity..its a truly elegant tool..the focus is on Stories which are estimated, everything else bugs, chores are not estimated as the time they take simply effects your ability to deliver stories..lovely ;-)..you have to try it to see how well it fits in, does not get in the way of getting done.
