All About Agile | Agile Development Made Easy!

Hi

I'm currently working for an ecommerce and catalogue retail company.

The ecommerce department is already using Agile for front end only projects, and as part of the Group Change area we are now investigating to what extent we can use an Agile approach (as oppoesed to the incumbent waterfall approach) for projects which span multiple areas of the group, such as Brands, Creative, Sys Dev, eComm, Trading, Distribution etc.

Whilst we are beginning to have an appreciation for how we might make best use of Agile across our business areas for any projects which have a key software development initiatives (and blending the business change elements into the lifecycle), we are struggling to find examples of how we might use Agile for mostly business operational change projects which have limited or no software changes.

Does anyone have experience of using Agile in this way, or can anyone point me towards any literature that may help us?  (Or is it a case of 'ignore Agile unless you have predominantly software development changes')....

For clarity, by operational change (I think this can be interpreted differently in the US to the UK), I mean business process rather than IT.  For example, changing the way we might deliver an E2E seasonal business process such as delivery of business plan, selection of products, sampling, photography, creative graphics etc etc.

I;m beginning to think Agile simply is not the answer to business process change, but don't want to discount it without validating this assumption!

Any help would be greatly appreciated :o)

Thank you in advance

Lisa

Stephen Denning has a book on using what he calls Radical Management (Scrum) for everything inside a company http://www.amazon.com/Leaders-Guide-Radical-Management-Reinventing/...

Maybe it can help you. Scrum can work outside IT Development.
