I've been looking at how to progress further with the Agile Mindset in our organization - various teams have experimented with Scrum and taken on board the daily stand-up side of it. Of course there…Continue

Validation in Agile Development

Here's a question we were faced moving forward to Agile - we're all happy doing sprints, TDD and Unit Testing - but for us the definition of DONE must include the overall System functionality.  So yes, we can implement functionality into user stories and implement them as such, but in the end we are building sub sets of feature set - most of which have some sort of dependancy; so to be sure (Safety Standards 61508 apply) the view is that the whole of the system needs to be tested as a unit -…See More

that's why it's small. but the customer doesn't care about coverage, or internal "widgets per millisecond"; they MIGHT care about "transactions per minute", for example.

Interesting pyramid. My only concern is that I don't think the customer should care a lot about metrics (other than perhaps bug count, age of oldest bug or similar). How would the typical customer even make sense of code coverage?

The Test Food Pyramid: Goal Donors don't need to hear about TDD directly. They view a project by looking down at that pyramid from the tip, where they see features, metrics, and literate BDD tests. Developers look up from the bottom level.…

Thanks - I found this set of slides reference on the subject that very clearly lays out the concepts.

OK, here is how it looks from my perspective (disclaimer: I'm not an expert on BDD). In an Agile project (and non-Agile, too, probably), there should be at least two layers of testing. Acceptance Tests are specified by the customer and…

Thanks - Here's a bit more detail as to where the confusion stems from : " My gut feel is that BDD doesn't replace TDD, but the BDD advocates seem to imply it does. Their argument is "TDD doesn't address the problem BDD…

Sina I put your question to a colleague of mine who has much experience in this area, this are his thoughts on the matter: "If you were to express your requirements as a set of acceptance tests (and I advise you do) and you were to automate…

BDD, TDD, Acceptance Testing and Executable Specification

Here's a question that was posted on our internal Agile Forum -> In terms of TDD, BDD, Acceptance Testing and Executable Specification, I have heard: 1.    Acceptance Testing is the same as Executable Specification2.    BDD is the same as Executable Specification3.    BDD replaces TDD But if all three were true, than one could say Acceptance Testing replaces TDD, which certainly not what anyone is saying. So I'm missing something....   I wondered if anyone had a good reply to this ?See More

That's great - I'll share this with other Agile Community members at Eurotherm (this isi our internal community) and setup a gettogether to watch the Googletalk so we can reflect and take action.

A great format to start with can be found in the book "The Art of Agile". "Agile Retrospectives" is another good, more comprehensive book on the topic. The authors of the latter book also gave a google tech talk:…

Frankly, in that case I recommend making adopting retrospectives your highest priority for now. It's vital to involve the whole team in the decision making on where and how to improve next, and retrospectives are *the* tool to do that. If…

We are very new to Agile - and in short the answer in no. We do daily standups, and some teams have white boards and index cards, but we are yet to fully apply all elements of Scrum.
